I was just in Vegas and I rented a 2007 C6 Corvette Convertible. I thought it was going to be gay with the automatic, but it has the "sport" automatic with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Having the control of gears, like a manual tranny, without the need of a clutch was nice.

As people have said, both trannys have positives and negatives. Auto = simplicity whereas most driving purists say that a manual tranny give you an "authentic" experience where you're more connected to the car.

Just my two cents.
