these clutches take some getting used to. I stopped giving advice because majority of people don't want to hear that they are not shifting properly, and just resort to name calling. but good god do I cringe when i watch people's driving videos

then, try and offer sincere advice and the response is usually something like "i know how to drive, i've been driving manual for xxxx years". this clutch sucks yo.

i've had people call me a ricer for blipping the throttle on downshifts. that was the end of that. if people really want advice i'll give as detailed explanations as necesary. not claiming i'm a driving expert, or that I drive perfectly, but when I make a mistake I know what I did wrong.
dood i always ALWAYS blipped my throttle before downshifting. also, i rarely downshift unless under heavy breaking or (stopping fast). I usually leave it in gear for a lil bit and just brake than take it into neutral. i was once told by a 01 camaro ss driver like 3 years older than me. i respected him alot he said why do you downshift all the time? i said to save my brakes. he said no dude would you rather replace your brakes or your clutch. i said brakes. he than clinged my beer and said well there ya go lol. so since then i used brakes all day unless under heavy braking in which i DO blip the throttle for the synchro's sake. anyone concur?

If you rev match your down shifts you will NOT harm your clutch. The Camaro driver is a moron.

the people that use the "what's cheaper, brakes or clutch" are the ones that don't really know what they're doing... i wouldn't follow that advice. proper downshifting puts no additional strain on your clutch over what is acceptable, and will also save you gas mileage. plus you're in an approprate gear if you need to accelerate again.

So i went to the dealership today for a annual inspection. Because of the snow on the ground and slippery conditions the mechanic wasnt able to get the clutch to do the issue, everytime he tried to give it more then like 20% throttle the tires would just spin in the snow...lol. Although the car is going in on December 31st to get the sway bar links replaced and during that they said they would re-address the issue.

I often find myself heel-toe downshifting just for practice. Every now and then throw in a double clutch downshift but meh it's not needed.

i never saw the benefit to double clutching. just seems like it takes longer, and doesn't really help anything, plus it's one more move with the possibility of missing. granted with practice you can double clutch pretty quickly, but not as quickly as just rev matching.

i can't heel-toe in the cobalt. i hit both pedals i'm sure if I actually auto-x'd or something where it would be beneficial for driving i would practice more and get used to it. but since I don't auto x I never really bothered on the cobalt.

I can double clutch just as fast as I can rev match. It takes a lot of practice though.

Heel-toe is very nice when you're coming up on an off ramp a little to hot.

The Original Poster may want to check with his tuner..... if he knocks alot of boost off the bottom end of first gear, it can seem like someone is hitting the VTAK button when you get to said rpm. i know that how my car is now.... too much boost taken out of first until 3700rpm so ill be completely engaged and then hit the throttle itll go but not like it did stock tune and when it gets to 3700rpm WHAM VTAK!! tires break loose almost everytime. its kinda of rediculous to drive because of the dramatic change in engine preformance. but i am retuning here in a few weeks so should correct that.

i was thinking that could be a possibility. Come to think of it, i never had this issue until we did the base tune for my stage 2. Never got to finish the tune because the army sent me on my tank drivers course so its still messed up. I'm install meth and retuning this week so hopefully thats the issue and not the clutch

I am just learning to drive my ss/sc, First manual, (turn 16 in 3 months), And my car cas 41,xxx miles plus im just getting good at driving it and the clutch is a lil rough, It slips at the top of pretty much every gear, Very little but still does it.

Like the rpms will shot from 4800rpms to 6000rpms real fast, Just a little fast slip at the top of every gear.

Once im done learning (almost there) IM going to replace it, What would you guys recommend for a mostly stock car with somebody that will be beating on it it allot and prolly slipping the clutch more than he should for awhile
