2k5SS/SC, I was at the UPS warehouse 20 minutes after I got home and they are not open on saturday. I would have even begged and pleaded if anyone were there, but not so.

Diff between the versions. 1 has the taller pressure plate housing. Do not install. 2 has the shorter plate housing but a thicker diaphragm spring than version 3. This spring is not the fingers. The angle of the fingers is determined by the pressure plate itself and the diaphragm spring. the diaphragm spring is under the housing and above the plate.

Version 3 is definitely what I am getting. It may be what I have now, but Lonnie was not 100% sure which is one reason that he sent another one. I will have it tomorrow. I may take part of the day off to work on it.

Soccer, I'll try and keep near a computer to check on your status. I'm closing on my first brand new home tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll be busy. Please keep me posted because this is still an issue I need to resolve. Good luck with this clutch. I truely hope it works out well, so we can get back to enjoying our cars again!

yes the stage 3 and stage 4 clutch kits suffer from the same problem, my original stage 4 clutch with a 6 puck did not fit or disengage properly. I talked to CM and they sent me a redesigned one that works just fine now.

Guess you answered that one for the both of us! I do believe the pressure plate is the same for the Stage 3 and 4 kits.

You will get nothing but the latest proven design from CM. I am sure that they suspended shipments of all the cobalt clutches until they have a proven dead kill on this issue. I think they have it, because what they did to fix it makes sense from a design point of view. I stopped at the UPS warehouse at 6:00 A.M. this morning and I have my new clutch in my posession. As soon as I finish this note, I am headed home to start the install. Will update the forum by midnight tonight E.S.T.. I am convinced that it is right this time.

Nah, I didn't fall asleep. Just came in. I have to put the wheels on yet, cause some how I managed to loose two bolts, so I will go out and get them tomorrow. I started bleeding the system, but remember that I put springs on during this down time also, so my front brakes were full of air as well as the clutch system. Bled the system about 4 times, and did not get enough out to build pressure in either the clutch or brake system. Its late, the clock goes off at 5:00 A.M. and I still have parts to ship for the business. On the bright side, the installation went flawlessly for the most part. The engine fired right up with the larger injectors and smaller supercharger pulley. Now I just need to get it reflashed. You could tell it was running rich, but not terrible. When you guys get your clutch kits, make sure that CM sent you the GM14 clutch disc alignment tool. The other GM tool has too small of a pilot and would make it very difficult to get proper alignment of the disc. Sorry I can't give a final response on the clutch tonight, but I am confident that CM got it right this time.

did u put another new slave cylinder in or not? reason I ask is luigi put a new one in the first time but when he went to redo it the new one was leaking. I told cm not to send me a new one since they are on backorder...was this a bad idea?

Thanks,

Dan
