I think it's an old issue that finally did damage (to my axle). my torque damper broke from being an idiot one night with some kids at dpa racing from a dig. I think this may have broken as well. it doesn't make sense that this would break from the car being low because there is a cv joint to absorb the angle. although, I could be wrong.
the new theory is that the axles are bottoming out in the int. shaft. makes sense to me now. I'm looking into having my axles shortened tomorrow first thing.

lol I didn't get it cause I didn't see this **** first hand! I didn't think you meant the splines were bottoming out man. I know you hate me and all but do you think it's a bad idea to get these new axles shortened at a machine shop?

I don't hate. Hate is an awful word. What you should try doing, if possible, is setting the car down on cinder blocks so you can lay under the car well the suspension is loaded and move the car back and forth and watch for where the axles are binding and in what you can modify them to alleviate the stress.

I am gathering that there are high and low points to the cv joints where they will bottom out in the int shaft/diff even though they're designed not to do this with the roller type thing going on, nothing's perfect. I was thinking shortening the shafts themselves since the cages will bottom out even if I shorten just the splines.
I will try this technique as well, but I'm almost positive it will only give me a better understanding of why I need to shorten the axles.

aren't you a certified tech like you said? and you can't get a part #, or diagnose your problems? Maybe if you weren't always such an ass, and when people told you what to do you called them idiots they would be more willing to help you out.

Here you go.
You have to replace the whole shaft. Dependant on the movement you may have damaged the wheel speed sensor also.
intermediate shaft - 10357497 - 449.08
wheel speed bracket - 22723923 - 78.93
wheel speed sensor - 22591939 - 126.06

fuckkkk my liiiiife thank you. certified tech doesn't mean **** I'm no engineer I can do brakes and ball joints all day long but that doesn't make me a professional. a lot of people take the paperwork too seriously.
I don't have an ABS light and it's a minor crack the shaft is still attached the mount looks like it was just stressed. now you're saying there's a wheel speed sensor in the bracket? I don't see any wires. this is such a ******* failfest I almost wanna off myself. I can't even afford this ****.

I am not sure what caused mine. My redline was a wrecked redline that I rebuilt. So it was probably due to the previous owner driving the car hard.

jesus you are dumb. i already said it was from the axle pushing inward. if you do really own a lathe like you claim (which i still don't believe) you should put a right angle cutter on it, stick your arm through the chuck and turn that thing on about 500rpm.

did some research today at work while the boss was out at lunch lol
kinda hard to see but it comes with the mount (7), the bearing(4) and the end plate (1). I'm sure I can re-use the snap rings and bolts if not I can find them easily.
so I ordered the part from king o'rourke it was only 113.82 after tax. should be here friday
SO, apparently I have 2 options now. it'll cost me about 200 to get this thing on regular springs and I'll be able to go fast OR I can get the axles shortened (not sure how much shorter yet) and that will be cheaper and I can be low and slow. I prefer low and slow, but if it comes down to it and I hear enough negative things from a few reliable sources I will have to just let it go until I get coilovers. my gut is leaning more towards getting drop springs again and a nice 6 pack of hoegaarden belgian beer.
it has been an agonizing build and hopefully it works out either way. I want to thank those who have put in their .2 cents and if you need a shop discount on parts or any info from all data, it's the least I can do.
