well my clutch is almost dead I think.
I was out with a budy of mine and we were at a stop light and I rolled to 10mph and floored it. Went to redline in first lost traction threw 1st than banged it hard into 2nd and ZIIING bounces off the revlimeter then I lifted and ****** into 3rd same thing ZIIING then I diengaged the clutch and coasted for a wile then let it back in, it grabed but the friction point is at the top of the pedal. Bummer I ziped it around later that night it worked but it drives different now not as grabby so ill take it to my buddy at the dealer later.

what is the probability of getting the clutch replaced under warranty? the car is still driveable so is the dealership going to tell me to go away until the clutch gets so bad i have to bring the damn pos back on a flatbed?
i really dont want another stock clutch thats just gonna fry again under 10k miles of driving, but at this point in time i cannot afford going with something like a spec stage 2 upgrade. im in between jobs and going to school.

WEll looks like my dealer is going to replace my clutch in a few weeks when I get home agen.
Been working so much that I have not had time to take it back. But they looked at it and have said that they will take it apart and let me know as soon as they get the car.

seems like the 1-2 clutch slip is a common problem also. i took off my ingalls etd and that seems to let the clutch grab a bit better. i assume it is because of the engine movement allowing the clutch more room to grab. i thought the ingalls, or any improved engine mount, would help shifting
i guess i will just deal with the wheel hop / drive it easier until i can afford to go with the spec 2+ clutch and maybe a lighter flywheel.

2400K on my 05, started slipping from 1st to 2nd at 800 miles. service tech told that it was a built in safty feature for all Chevy front wheel drive cars. I ask him to check it anyways. He took the car for a ride and came back and said there was nothing wrong with it. I went to another dealer and was told that Cobalt SS have been having a lot of clutch problems, but dealersships are not authorized to replace the clutche unless the General Manager approves it.
Needless to say I'm still waiting to have it done.

I had this problem. clutch would slip in first gear just hitting the gas. also shifting from 1st to 2nd.
went the winter hoping I would not be without a car for I expected it to get worse.
This summer I have to say the clutch feels so strong. How strong? well I went to the track. I did burn outs and was able to launch a 2.267 in 60ft (I know I can launch harder so that time will come down I am sure.) my point is it is not slipping now.
Why? My guess is that it requires a good amount of time to break in or I had a hydraulic problem that resolved itself. who knows. I have ordered stage 2 and will not be worried that I have to replace the clutch. I wont be replacing it still it dies or if someone convinces me after pulling the motor for pistons.
