Problem
i have just recently bought a Hurst Short throw shifter from crate engine depot. I called and double checked with them and they told me over the phone and after looking on there website that the shifter would fit the G5 and there site says the same thing. However when i got it my mechanic said that i may not be able to use it because it has the SS/SC feature to it where you have to lift up on the knob in order to go in reverse which i do not have this feature. So now i may have to return it because i dont know if i can use the shifter if i dont have this feature. Unless i can just shift normaly and ignore lifting the knob when going into reverse. Anyone know. The only other shifter i could find for my Car which is a G5 GT is made in canada called TWM or something like that.

Yeah, the TWM is the only one I know of. You're correct that the Hurst is only available for the SS/SC (and possibly SS/TC?) 5 speed transmission. I have heard that you can possibly use the Hurst on your G5 GT if you modify it......but I don't know how or what it involves. Hopefully someone else can shed light on this.
