Problem when shifting into 2nd gear.

Well I've noticed a few times after being in first gear and flooring it and spinning my tires a little bit when i try to shift into second gear the car stays in first and doesnt hit second until i let off the gas aor let the rpms drop. This happened mainly at the drag strip, I'm thinking its more because of my bad launching than anything serious. anyone having this problem? Because it makes me look like a fool at the drag strip.

You could use the "L" & "2" gears.

Probably won't work if he's got a problem with the valve body. Automatic transmissions determine when to shift by the line pressure and how hard you're stepping on the gas. Shifting from L to 2 wouldn't change this...

No manual transmission. stage 2 ss with stage 3 pully, exhaust and headers.

I Don't know, this only happens after giving about full throttle in first and shifting quickly into second, and any other time I drive the car works perfectly fine.

dude your clutch is slipping. this is why 2nd won't grab unless you get off the gas and let the rpms drop

okay, so my clutch is slipping, now what should i do to prevent this from happening, I'm going to say launch slower and take my time then slam the gas when i hit second gear?

how many miles do you have on your car?
how often do you race/go to the strip?

your clutch could just be worn out

2007, 16k miles, went to the strip once. And I suck at launching, so I'm pretty sure that it's just my horrible drag racing abalities not my car.

you're hitting the gas too early before you're off the clutch. let the clutch all the way out before you hit the gas.

and don't spin through first. it accomplishes nothing, slows down acceleration, and puts you lower in 2nd gear so you bog.

go easier in first, and let the clutch out before you hit the gas.

QFT!

There was a mustang guy at the track here and he was running mid 16's roasting first and second gear. His friend got in it who had experience dragging and dropped it to 14 flat.

just to add...mine does that too sometimes. mine wont shift if i try to shift when the wheels are broken loose unless im in comp mode when the traction control is off. if i turn traction control off it works fine. and i know its not my clutch caz i only got 3,000 on the car so. see what you think.

Depending on driving habits and driving style/skill a clutch can go in less then 3000 miles.

The stock clutches on these cars are effed up right from the get go! Like previously stated you may be hittin the gas before the clutch is completely out. I found the clutch grabs better the faster you let it out.

thats probably what i was doin with the car in regular mode yea your right. but thats why im saying it worked in comp mode caz you dont have to lift the gas. so i just thought he might be doin the same thing i was. and id probably agree about the faster the better its pretty touchy and jerky if you try to be too slow with it.
