shifter/trans engagement problem

05 ss/sc with 69,000 miles. Stock shifter and full bwoody mounts. Had my clutch replaced with the GMPP about 1.5 months ago cause my roommate burnt up my stock 65,000 mile clutch when out of state working. I have never and still do not have any grinding issues.

When I got it back from the mechanic 3rd and 5th do not engage like the rest of them and pop back into neutral when coasting in gear and the drivetrain has no stress on it. I had to move back home a week after getting to clutch installed.

I just adjusted the shifter linkage and still no change. YOu can feel 3/5 dont "lock" into gear and feel spongy going in. 5th feels alittle better than third. I can still power shift no problem and I have done it 1000+ times.

ANyone have any ideas what the problem could be? I have a couple local knowledgeable members I can ask but wanted a wide audience to ask.

Though I would note this.
A couple years ago I changed the trans fluid to royal purple. Last year a now ex friend wrecked my car and the axle came out among other things. When the new clutch was put in the mechanic said there was "barely any fluid in it" so in a pinch I had my friend buy some more royal purple as no one had the oem and I found out about the lnf fluid a few days later . I have never noticed any leaks so I can assume it was from the axle coming out..

I got the fuse box and tire off then I realized that I didnt adjust the cable for the side to side motion of the shifter as I first thought that it wouldnt help me. After a couple repositions it now feel fine.

but I noticed that I am missing a bolt to the trans mount and the trans is rotated 1/2" because of it. Got to get a new bolt now.
