So i feel like i got swindled out of an extra 100$
My'09 Cobalt SS MT my Girlfriend was driving, while I was out of town. She tells me the car wont go into 5th gear.Go for a drive sure enough no 5th it felt blocked for some reason.GO to dealer Saturday, cant get to it until Mon. So,they think its the shift cable linkage & will adjust & see if that fixes it.They say it cant be fixed and needs a Shift assembly, its under my extended warranty,So a rental & pay my deductible of 100$. 2-days pass they call(Warranty co. said they will not cover us taking your center console apart i need an extra hour of labor)i,m at work on the phone and i just said do it cause i,m on my last day of the rental. So i pick up my car while driving down the street(Something says hey Jackass, dont you have to remove the console anyway to get the the Shift Assembly out in the first place.)
So what i,m asking is did i just for example(pay extra for someone to remove my battery because they had to open my HOOD.

Yep jyped you. They would only have to pull out the cup holder to look at the clamps and only have to open the hood to look at the cables on the transmission.

I don't understand your post-did they just adjust your shift linkage or did they change the shifter out? Or what was changed?

So after months of calling GM customer service, i went back to the dealership and I asked to speak with the service manager. We played Phone Tag for a week or so, but then got him on the phone explained the situation and he offered me a choice of refund or store credit. I choose the store credit because that would make this go a lot faster plus it was time for an oil change anyway and i wanted this to be over. So i,m going in the morning and if everything goes well that will be the end of that. I will no longer get my service done there as they were a trial spot because the one i normally take it too is just to far.

So everything went according to how it was suppose to go. When i pulled in since i had made an appointment the Service advisor came right out no waiting handed him the keys and the Service Manager asked to speak with me. So we go in his office and asks me if i wanted anything and apologizes for my inconvenience. they wash the car then i,m on my way.
