Stock shifter adjustment? New shifter?

Hey guys i did some looking around on the forums and all i could find about adjusting the shifter were about short shifters. I dont know if i can use the same process as them or not. Is there a specific method for the stock shifter? So far the problem im having it that its not wanting to go into gear every now in then. This doesnt happen all the time. Mostly when shifting quickly. It just feels like the shifter is hitting a wall and takes a couple trys. Lately its been the 2nd gear so i popped the clip and pulled the shifter a bit to the left and now it goes into 2nd fine but i can feel it binding/hitting when going into 4th and 5th. Also reverse it a pain to get into gear sometimes. So now im to the point where i need to find out if there is a way to adjust it properly of try to convince the wife to let me get a short shifter.

I had this same issue on my 2010 tc and it ended up being the cable. New one installed under warranty and hasn't done it since. Shifting is a lot smoother/easier now too.
