For those with Excedy Stg3 Clutch

Alright, I have one, installed 10k miles...

but I think its gone bad, or always has been bad, but i need to know how others clutch feels and if it does what mine does(I dont know anyone local with one)

clutch is obviously nice a stiff no big deal, but it will randomly, no way to tell when, grab at different spots in the clutch, and wont fully disegange(i believe) it will grab a bit 2mm from the floor board just enough to make the car move but not stall, then it finishes the grab up top or sometimes in the middle, its driving my nuts cuz in city traffic my clutch grabs randomly and is very hard to work with

let know if this is how others are, or if mine is truely effed up(i know my thowout bearing is going and will be changing it) but i wanna know if i have to buy a new clutch to throw in when i drop the trans for the new throwout bearing so it would be a 1 time deal

and im made cuz this clutch cost me a $1000

If the clutch is still grabbing fine, then it's just the slave cylinder. You might just need to bleed you clutch again too. Was the slave cylinder replaced when the clutch was installed? If not, it has to be everytime the tranny is removed no matter how good it looks. It will fail if not replaced, trust me!

Yea, i was told to replace it wehn i had it out, but i did it on saterday, couldn't get a new one until monday and i needed my car in the time being so i had to put my stock one in...i know it needs to be changed, but it just grabs at wierd points

i also have bled the clutch 3 times now and no change so i hope it is just the slave cyl/ throwout bearing

thanks

What do you mean by it grabs at weird points? It should grab right off the floor for the most part. IF your slave cylinder is not releasing right, the points will vary every time. That little green POS seems to be a pain in the ass from my perspective. It has caused me and my buddy more problems. I wish GM would have used a better design personally.

like you said it will grab different almost everytime, sometimes my car will even stall cuz i dont think my clutch is getting disengaged

my clutch will grab either way low or at the last inch or so at the top drives me nuts since it will sometimes catch me off gaurd and i will bock my car, i have stalled it a few times cuz of that

I have gone through hell with clutches and tranny's on this car, so I pretty much know by now what's can or will happen in this department. This is probably the reason why I'll never by a ClutchMasters Clutch again. I know the Honda/Acura guys love them, but I got a bad taste from the 3 that it took them to get it right! My Exedy straight owns them hands down.

This is why I can't emphisize (<sp?) the fact to buy a good clutch and always change the slave cylinder out no matter what!

OEM slave...its a shame folks dont do the research on this forum there is so much good advice the road to hell is paved with guys taking the trans out and reinstalling new slaves over and over....
