too much power... slipping clutch??

The clutches on our cars appear to be very hit or miss. I'm running mid 13's (13.60 best) and I have only ever had clutch slip when I have hotlapped one pass after another. As long as I let her cool for 10-20 minutes I don't get any slip at all.

And as others have said, torque brace, poly mounts up the wazoo and get all that movement under control. It will help.

bal, i had that problem with mine and it isnt even an sc, or an ss for that matter, only in 2 nd and only under hard accel, it seemed worse when the car was cold and at this time of the year. dealer put a clutch pressure plate and disc in and its been better ever since.

i have an 07 and mine does the same thing so i know what your talking about. when you shift and it doesnt catch if you push in on the clutch it feels really soft and it just doesnt do anything to help out. when i race i ussually shift at about 5600 rpm's and i dont have a problem with it doing it.

hmm... well atleast I don't feel so bad anymore. It would be kinda cool though if I can get a replacement clutch tomorrow morning. Atleast then I know I will be good for another good little while but I think I will try everything out to see what works best. Since Friday night I haven't drivin it like an A**hole yet and since then the clutch has been perfect so I might give some of yuor opinions out.

mine hasn't slipped yet with a 2.5" pulley and full exhaust.

After letting my girlfriend take my car to work for a couple days, I was slipping the clutch like crazy going into 2nd and all i was doing was trying to get on the road not really race but i was getting on it. After a day or 2 of me driving the car and using what ive read on here about shifting above 3k it never slips.(knock on wood)

I have been driving the car completely normally the past two days and I haven't had a problem since the Friday. However tomorrow at the dealership I will tell the tranny guys to just let my car rip. One of the guys there has a yellow ss/sc yellow one so I don mind him driving it. Cause only when you drive it like a son of a bitch does it slip going into second...

I had the same problem this weekend and prior to that as well. From what i have read on here and found out it's the pressure plate that sucks..!!! I also smell the clutch burn as i try to do a hard launch and same problem. Not too sure on what to do w/o replacing the clutch and pressure plate. Altho you can try whati have been doing.. It takes some practice but launch off around 2k-2500 and instead of hitting the rev limiter let off the gas slightly and shift right around 5800-6k. Again it takes practice but have noticed i don't get that problem if you don't hop on 1st ou tthe gate and let 2nd and 3rd do it's think. Easier said than doen when racing but if you practice it (empty lot or somehting) it helps. Otherwise save for a new clutch and pressure plate..

I brought it into the dealership and they took it in and had a look and then they called the gm representatives and spoke with them about it and from what they were told the first thing they asked my dealer was if I had stage 2... and they told them I did and GM told the dealer that ALOT of people burn their clutchs when they get stage 2 so its not an un common thing. However, warranty did not cover anything and it was my pressure plate which is worn out a bit. So I am saving for a better clutch assembly and then sticking that in and hoping it will last a good long time!

Theres no need to floor it in first anyway, you're never gonna get any traction. Trust me I had the same problem as you when I first got stg 2. Just get used to the power and not flooring it in first, you'll go faster
