Trans mounts

I brought my car to a tranns shop, and the mechanic told me he had to drop the tranny and all this stuff to put on my tranny mounts I bought from turbo tech. I bought the prothane manual tranmission mounts set. Is this true, I don't understand how these are such a big deal...

You just do one at a time and you don't have to pull the whole transmission. Sounds like a loud of bullshit to get more labor time out of you.

Nope. Just put the car up on stands, support the engine with a jack (and a piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan), take off the mounts one at a time, and replace the old inserts with the new ones.

He's just trying to get more $$ out of you.

Yeah thats why I just took the car and left. They didn't seem to know what I was talking about either. They were telling me the rectangular housing unit didn't match the circular mounts and all this ****. I don't know too much about these things but he sounded like an idiot.

Agreed, the mechanic is just trying to get money, or doesn't have a clue what is going on. Max time is 30 min each, and there is no need to drop the tranny.
