Transmission Ringing Noise (While Driving)

I tried to do some research/reading and couldn't find much.

My transmission makes a slight yet noticeable sound while driving. The best way to describe it, is almost like a loose chain sound. Around 3k rpm's (second gear) and let off and it will hop a little hard and you can really hear it.

Any ideas? Is this completely normal?

I thought I read somewhere it was the syncros going bad, and somewhere else it was normal. Just looking for some opinions or experiences please.

Thanks

Could be the bearings going bad. They will whine when you let up

Stock tranny or is it a zzp one? ZZP's makes noise anyway since the tolerances are closer, like mongo said bearings could be going bad if its a stock one.

Also, only 54,000 miles. Seems premature. Anyone know if this is something covered under power train? 5yr 100k good until August of this year.

Trans will be covered under powertrain.

Hey mongo, when you say bearings are you talking about the input shaft bearing? Mine makes a grinding noise when I coast in gear.

I've noticed mine ringing a little under slight load on the highway. You may want to try changing the fluid. I haven't changed my fluid in a good 20k miles, and I drive it pretty hard. It's probably due for a change.

Also try pushing in the clutch to see if the noise remains.

Supposedly that's the clutch. Couple threads on this about a noise on decel.

Chain in the tranny prolly. The clutch will be heard when stopped with the car in neutral most of the time

Mine does that too. It's annoying. Is it the tranny or clutch?

One says clutch, one says tranny. Which one is it most likely?
