TWM short shifter noise

I just installed my TWM short shifter. I noticed when i shift from 1->2 or 3->4, that there is a snap or a "crunchy" feeling in the shifter. It might be from the little plastic threads on the cables. Is this normal? Because i REALLY dont want to tear all that crap apart again. If it wont hurt anything i'll just deal with it.

THANKS!

sounds like the linkage in the shifter cables may be a little loose, almost, but maybe not quite clipped. you dont have to take the full assembly apart, just take the covers off and check the assembly.

remove the boot and go from gear 1 to 5 and see if the shifter is rubbing on any plastic. if it is, cut that plastic

I get the noise, doesn't seems to really affect anything as far as I've noticed. I figured it is a combo of the different bushings and more aggresive shifting that is achieved.

Yeah the plastic piece does need to be cut a certain way. I took the 1 console piece off ( THANK GOD I DIDNT HAVE TO REMOVE EVERYTHING) I saw where it was hitting and i snipped it off.

If you look at the instructions it tells you where to cut ( the picture is showing the underside of the shifter assembly) They also remind you to trim the top, and boy is it a craptacular grainy photo. And of course you dont know exactly where to trim the excess off unless you put the whole thing back on the car. If anyone needs pics i will take some.

Did you try taking the panel off and shifting through all the gears? I found out that a little bit of black plastic still needed to be trimmed and it was making the linkage click.

I'll see if i can post pics tonight. Its kinda dark out. If not i will tomorrow!

G5mike : No prob
