Cool 2009 SS/TC Sedan's Dyno Results :) 292wHp 380wTq

Youtube video of my dyno pull 2 with my Trifecta Tune activated. This is the pull that I got my highest numbers from.

Here are the printouts from the run.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the numbers my car got at the dyno, but I know it can get more in a little more ideal conditions. (yep it is a turbo car, don't hate :P)
I'm not sure what the outside temperature was at the time, but it was pretty warm outside and had to be at least 80 at the time (was at 2:30 ish ). I also drove my car a lot this day and was messing around with some pulls with it earlier, so by the time I finally drove to TES which is across town for me, I'm sure my car was running a little hot.

The first run I did on the dyno I forgot to activate my tune and it was run with the stock tune, I didn't look at the numbers but oh well... When this run was done my engine coolant was right around 200F which it normally runs around 183F, so I'm sure that didn't help...

I will be getting my car redyno tested at a local college, south plains, event for a fundraiser dyno day. (3 pulls for $50, not bad)

I plan on ordering a ZZP Downpipe with a highflow cat today, hopefully it'll be in before May 5ths dyno day. I've heard it is one of the most restricting parts on cobalt ss/tc and is one of the best gains to be had after a tune of the car. I want my car to hit above 300 whp and get close to 400 wtq, which I'm sure it'll do with cooler outside temps and less heatsoaking before hand. I believe with the downpipe, maybe getting it relogged and update its tune for the mods added, of course better outside temps, and less heatsoaked of a car, it'll hit 310-320 whp and 400 wtq. I look forward to the next dyno event, this was my first time on a dyno and it was a lot of fun. The dyno that's going to be used for the dyno day event is a resistance dyno that allows pulls and recording in every gear for the whole run, while TES Performance dyno does the pull in the gear that is closest to the 1to1 ratio.

Other videos
Pull 3, Tune activated but PC wasn't setup right and didn't record. : /
Pull 4, Tune activated but car was pretty heatsoaked by this point. 277.8 wHp 364.3 wTq in this run.

i dont get what makes 2.0 LNF engines have so much god damn torque SOMETIMES. There are guys that i see tuned putting less torque than HP why is this?

^^^ I'm with you. One of the things that never ceases to amaze me about this car is the torque. Typically, almost every damn car I know of has (considerably) more hp than tq. But with the SS/TC, torque numbers are astounding compared to hp once tuned. Not complaining......I LOVE IT. Just never understood the phenomenon hahaha

Edit: Also, I will say, while the above tq #s are nice, the graph, not so much It falls off so much up top.....nearly 100tq lost between 4000rpm and ~redline, something doesn't seem quite right there

I agree the TQ on these cars is pretty amazing, my tires hate it though.

I too am curious why the huge drop in power and tq from the 4000 to redline, but I wasn't sure what the normal dyno curves look like. I'll look around on here and to compare it some, as this was my first dyno run ever. Things I think could be the cause of the drop, but again I'm not sure. Maybe clutch slip? Needing update or fix on trifecta tune? Heatsoaking issues again? Maybe the chargepiping has a leak somewhere or the intercooler? The intercooler was installed recently by me to the best of my ability, but there were some definite fitment issues. I also took off all the charge piping and reinstalled those during the install, maybe there is some issues with those too? The cold side charge piping was the hardest to install, it had a small bend in it that caused it to pinch some since the fitment was so poor. I think I need to just order a new cold side pipe and reinstall everything again with better clamps or couplers, the stock dejon ones that came with the hotside piping just isn't that great of quality and are a pain in the ass to work with.

Here is the graph for pull 4 with lower numbers, the graph looks way better than the first though.

The K04 Turbo's Die off up top in the SS/TC's. The massive tq spike is from when you hit full boost on the K04, it starts to fall off up top from heat in most cases too. (Also the boost starts to settle in its happy place.) It isn't clutch slip, just the way some cars dyno. Also guessing that they didn't have ESC turned off... THey didn't even ring it out to 6200RPm's

Well they did have the ESC off and it was in service mode in the beginning. I was worried my tune wouldn't turn on since I have the trifecta tune set on the traction control button when it's in setting two, competition mode/launch mode, so we put it back in normal mode with ESC on and then went to the traction control setting two with my tune. I want to get in contact with Vince today to see about getting it moved to the cruise control on/off button and leave the traction control stuff alone. I was worried if the ESC would mess with anything in that mode due to the back tires obviously not moving at all. I wonder if it did have any kind of effect after all.

That second little spike after the main peak tq makes me think the clutch was starting to slip right at peak then grabbed again creating that little spike. What psi are u on and are you spiking past that on the hit?

Its boost spiking, shitty tuners or people trying to impress us with dyno numbers have massive boost spikes in their tunes. Look at his dyno and u can see his torque spikes way up at 380 but falls down quickly, hes 292 is also a spike as well as u see most of them time his car is making 260ish hp in his powerband, look at his max numbers and his ave numbers on the bottom of the dyno sheet, max is 292hp 382 torque but his ave is 266 hp and 287 torque he almost has 100 less torque in his ave vs his max. He needs a new tuner bad because that is awful looking lol.

holy cow.... Looks wack... and yes the most restrictive piece on our car is the down pipe mainly cause of the cat.. so go no cat haha (: and 380 on a stock clutch is nuts. to whoever said it was slipping it is slipping because im at 304/358 and the reason i am at 358 is because matt at zzp said he would crank her up but I will need a clutch before i know it.. So looks like your clutch was a little bad and now shes gettin even worse.. imo... what else are your mods? If you plan on hitting 320/400 with a catted downpipe and a tune your smoking some louuuddd man.... give us more info lol

Someone asked Steven Hawking for a drawing! DAMN! You need one of these: 1) new tuner, 2) new shop doing the dyno, or 3) both

BTW, boost spikes are not impressive when the rest of the graph is significantly less.

Get rid of Trifecta. To rich of a tune. I would either get HP tuners and have Cobe pay for ZZP to tune it or get someone like Terminator2.

No im saving up you ass for a zfr lol. If i had the money I would go down to Matt and have him log my car so James could tune it. But matt @zzp does a very good job and takes care of my car everytime im there.
