80mm TVS Dyno

Just got back from a dyno day at FWDPerformance.com.

Dyno: Dynocom chassis dyno
Temp: 70F
Humidity: 24%

Unfortunately I didn't datalog with HPT so no IAT or other cool numbers.

Performance mods:

3" Rebel Intake
CTI Header + DP w/ high-flow cat
3" OTTP cat-back
Trifecta Tune
Dual Pass
Option B
OTTP H/E
60# injectors

Run 1:
No data. Computer froze!

Run 2:
278.1whp@6400rpm
255.9ft-lbs@4850rpm

Run 3:
272.3whp@6650rpm
250.8ft-lbs@4750rpm

Pretty curves:

Video:

I wish the computer hadn't frozen on that first run. That would have been my best one as you can see the supercharger heatsoaked by the third run.

I feel there is more to be had out of the 80mm before turning to meth. Will definitely update if/when I get there.

Comments and criticism welcome.

Your first was just so high that it broke the computer is all.

Heatsoak must've brought the numbers down enough to be believable by the computer.

Yep, I think right now I'm a little too comfortably rich at 11.5. Just need to grow a pair and lean it out a tad.

weird that it didnt make power up to 7000. I think yours is the only dyno i seen that didnt make it. My rev limit was 7200 and the power was still climbing when i hit the limit.

Yeah I noticed that too. I thought maybe he let off early, but you can clearly see he hits the limiter in the video.

I think its a combo of heatsoak on the dyno and the tune needing work.

Either that or the sheet is wrong. Now that I look closer, I dont think theres any way power could drop off that sharply between 6800 and 7000.

In any case its a good baseline to work off of.

Yeah, my car running GM Stage 3 made its peak power at 7075rpm (7250rpm limiter) when I had it dynoed last year. Something could have been frigged up with the dyno. Either way, nice torque numbers to start off with man

Honestly this is exactly the kind of stuff I want to hear. My tune is not set in stone and I'm looking forward to working on it until I squeeze as much as I can out of the stock pulley.

FWDPerformance does dyno days every last sunday of the month, so maybe I'll have some good news for March.

LOL @ ebristol

Damn you and your corn.

No meth or E-85 for me (yet). I'm trying to be very methodical about this. Don't want to rush into those until I've hit the limit without them.

From the responses in this thread, obviously I have more work to do.

You have hit the limit of HP with the TVS on dino fuel. You could install a smaller pulley but then you would have to pull timing. So +15whp with the pulley and -10whp removing timing. Its basically a wash.

But do not fear. I can help you!

1. The secret to making HP on the TVS is Timing.

2. The secret to getting timing with the TVS is Octane.

3. The secret to octane is Meth injection, E-85 or Race fuel.

You have to choose one.

If you pick Meth injection you need to run at least a 50/50 mixture minimum. I would recommend a 75/25 meth/water ratio.

I choose E-85 because it is availible in my area and it is cheap. Its about $1 less per gallon compare to 93 octane. And it is much easier to tune for then meth injection.

Your trifecta tuned? If so you are probably running 17-18 degrees of timing at WOT. Your not pushing the TVS until you are running 24-25 degrees of timing.
