06 Cobalt Ss Factory Amp? Where
I HAVE A cOBALT SS 06' AND IV HAD AN AFTERMARKET SOUND SYSTEM SINCE DAY ONE ALL I DID WAS POWERED OF THE FACROTY AMP WITH THE BLUE TURN ON WIRE ON THE METRA WIRE HARNESS. EVERYTHING WORKS FINE EXCEPT A WHINING NOISE. IS THIS WHY YOU ARE BYPASSING ? I LOOKED UNDERNIETH THE DRIVERS DASH AND CANT FIND ANYTHING THAT RESEMBLES A FACTORY AMP. CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME? LOCATION EXACT AND PICS IF POSSIBLE.

just add a ground loop isolator, basically something is sharing a ground and causing a back feed.
you can go track down all your grounds, but for $20, that'll shut up that alternator whine.
or, it could be signal and power lines too close to one another.

I pretty in depth when it comes to car audio. I own Xtremsounds and do plenty of cars with factory amps but this one i cant find the amp. Its really sad that it is my own car and I cant get it right like all my customers. I tried hardwireing the door speakers as well but when i try to get the plastic plate in the door jam, my door doesnt open up far enough to pull it out so i can drill through it. nobody else has this problem. also i cant get the safty clip to lift up so i can unplug it . i f i can get to the factory amp il just bypass it there thanks in advance

Look where your clutch is, then go all the way up, almost behind your dash, its a silver box just follow the firewall up
It takes alot but that clip does come undone, be warned if you think getting it apart is hard, wait untill you try to put it back together, my hands are still mangled fom it

Through the right front speaker/s
Mine had it as well
Find a new ground for the HU.
When you do find the amp your going to see that tapping into the front speakers sounds easier than it is, IMO its a toss up to whats worse, the amp or the doors. Thats a big tight bundlle of wires in a very confined space

bypassing the amp is also the "correct" way to install either 4 chan mids amp or a aftermarket HU. When u add the aftermarket HU it overdrives the stock amp causing either clipping or noise and installing a mids amp without rewiring the speakers or an amp bypass is stupid
