I have a 06 cobalt with the stock non-xm radio. I picked up a 05 cobalt ss radio with mp3/xm. I know I have to take it to the dealer to get the radio unlocked, but my real question is do I need the whole xm system in my 06 to have the aux mod work for iPod/iPhone or will just splicing into the xm portion of the radio work, The smaller port on the back of the radio with the harness cut out of the other car. My guess is it will work but I just thought I'd ask before I got cutting wires.

Hey Bob, this is horrible I don't have any answers for you but you might have one for me - can you either post a photo of the back side of the 05' SS radio for me or tell me if their is a generic auxillary port on the back?

there is not. 05 and 06 radios have no aux input from the factory
