07 ss/sc new headunit help
ok Ill soon have a alpine headunit and will be installing it
I have an 07 ss/sc I plan on redoing the whole system with new speakers new sub and 2 amps for the speakers and the subs, I wont be using any of the stock stuff, so what do I need to do to get my factory do chimes, I dont need a wire harness since Im running all the wires my self so is there like a couple of wires I connect together or what, any ideas?

you won't lose any factory chimes, but you will lose steering wheel controls. if you want to keep them, you'll have to buy a special wiring harness for you receiver for like $120. if you dont care about that, you still need a general harness for the alpine HU to connect to the stock setup.

no you do loose the factory door shimes and turn signal noises and all that good stuff, believe me I know its gone, and I just want to run my own wires and everything I dont need a wire harness to connect to the stock one thats why I want to know if you jump to wires together or something

your constant is gonna be yellow that you splice into the harness. the red coming from the HU is the ignition and that just needs to go to a fuse.

Yes the 07 Radio system is different than the 05-06 radios. What you will need to do is take the wiring diagram here and match it to the coloring on the alpine harness. I would suggest trying circuit city or best buy and show them how you have the radio out, and ask what harness you need. Do not let them sell you anything over 20 bucks or anything that will keep your chimes or whatnot. I even think that their shop fee may be almost as much as a harness so if you take it there, you might be just able to give them a diagram provided on the forums here and have them solder it and mount it for you for the same price you would pay for a harness. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
