09 headunit in a 07 car?
This has probably been covered before but I sure can't find it, but anyway. I have a 07' cobalt with the stock radio, the pioneer with the sub in the trunk, and I was thinking of going down to the chevy dealer and picking up a new head unit and cd changer because they now come with bluetooth and USB/iPod connections.
So my question is, can I put the new headunit in my car and still have all my functions work? Like, door chimes, steering wheel controls, fancy new bluetooth calling? If I need anything else to make this work let me know.
Thanks!!!

I have an 09 deck in my car, got it off someone here. I just wanted the USB port, and everything works fine. Had to get the dealer to unlock the deck, but after that it fired up and I never looked back. I don't know if the bluetooth stuff will work right though, as the steering wheel buttons may be different since a few buttons now perform more than one function, and it uses the OnStar mic for the bluetooth calling so if you're like me and don't have OnStar you're kinda out of luck unless you wanna install a bunch of extra stuff.

I've been wondering the same thing for a long time now.. so..
If you don't have OnStar, you don't have the steering wheel controls.. you figure it would work?

I don't have onstar, but the USB would still be cool to have. Oh, and I do have steering wheel controls so that'd be neat. What else would I need to make the bluetooth work do you think? I mean, could i get an onstar mirror and wire up the mic?

The mic isn't in the mirror, it's a separate piece next to the sunroof switch I think, at least that's what I've seen previously. I don't know how you'd wire the thing up though.

Yea so a call to the local chevy parts counter says that an '09 headunit would work just fine in my 07, but the bluetooth would be useless because of the lack of a mic, which would cost a lot. Besides which, the guy at the counter says that the multi disc '09 head unit would cost $450, yikes. No thanks to that. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Let me put it this way.
09 deck with USB port + portable hard drive = who cares about multidisc
lol
In all seriousness, ever since I put my 09 deck in, I've been using my 4GB USB thumbdrive. I haven't burned an mp3 CD since.

point taken, I just checked my iTunes library and I only have 3.97gb of music, and some of that is my girl's. How much did you guys pay for your radios? Did you get them off here or ebay? Thanks!!!
