2-DIN HU and SWI-JACK confusion
I have a new AV60BT JVC HU that I am trying to install in my 06 SS/SC. I have the Metra harness and swi-jack. My main issue is where to find a good 12v switched acc power source. I've searched for hours and just get more confused because it seems every person does this differently. Is the only option to run a wire all the way to the fuse box? There should be a 12v switch somewhere around the steering column, since that's what engages it, right??
My JVC has a blue/yellow wire that is listed to be for OE remote adapter. The swi-jack unit says their blue/yellow wire is for the same thing. It seems to me I should hook these two together, but the first owner didn't use that wire?
And lastly, the swi-jack has a green signal wire that goes to the steering wheel controls. Does that go to a wire on one of the OEM harnesses?
Any help would be awesome right about now. My brain is about fried.

the easiest thing for acc is going to be the fusebox. is that the only place to get it in the car... no but its the easiest most fool proof.
yes you want to hook the blue yellow wires together. the first owner probably didnt do it bc steering wheel controls aren't on every car. and on the ones that do have it a large percentage dont utilize them anyway especially on a double din touch screen
that does go to one of the harnesses. in the instruction manual it will let you know which wire to tap

I bought an Add-a-circuit deals to plug into the kick panel fuse box but unfortunately it was a large size fuse, not the minis. So I may have to file down the legs to get it to fit. Are there any 12v accessory open fuse holes in the fuse box under the hood? I don't WANT to run a wire that far but I have my doubts of getting this larger add-a-fuse thing to fit.
I think I'm going to start off without the swi-jack. I was only going to try it because it came with the used kit I bought from a member here. I have a touch screen so I'm not too worried about that. I'll be happy if I ever get sound again lol, it's like a bomb went off inside my car right now.

Unfortunately autozone didn't have anything else, so I'll have to shop around to find a mini fuse plug. OR get out the file and shave the little pins down so they fit. ;-)

From all the reading and research I found on the forum it seemed like people wanted a 15 amp fuse for aftermarket HUs. The part number you listed is only good for one 10 amp fuse. I suppose any fuse is better than ghetto wiring it, and since you are recommending that part I guess I will order one of those. Thanks mucho for the help! Now if this stupid hurricane would go away so I can get to work.

Success at last. Like everyone else, I didn't think I had to tap the pink amp power wire... so once I did that I got sound. The only issue for hooking this mother up is the sub. JVC has the subwoofer output on a single RCA signal. So the metra harness apparently only powers the 4 interior speakers. Are the subwoofer signal wires in the main harness or does the oem amp break those off the rear speaker channels? The new deck has sub control but changing it up and down does nothing so apparently I missed something.

I kinda figured GM did it that way to be simple. Well may be down the road I'll use the preamp RCA outs and use one of my amps. Thanks for all the help. Time to bolt it all back together!

If you don't want to deal with going under the hood you can find accessory at the BCM but i find the ignition harness easiest which is brown at the 6 Pin connector. You will need to remove the steering wheel cover which is held on by 3 7mm bolts.
Your other option is going for a Pac-Audio C2R-GM11 or OS-311 (On Star Retention) which takes accessory through data.
Your steering wheel control is very basic for wiring. Here is a guide by Pac.

I found a 12v switched power source in that red tray below the pass side kick panel. It was about a 14ga pink wire. Not sure what it powers but I put a power tap on it for the 12v switched radio wire. I also put a fuse inline to that wire as a safety net.
Last time I checked PAC's site their car selection drop down list wasn't working but I found the link for a 2006 wiring diagram:
