2005 radio swap need to clarify
hi, new here!!! been doing a lot of reading in here and i think i am reading correctly,
i am putting anaftermarket radio in my 2005 cobalt base model sedan. i got the harness on ebay, the power wire is separate and will need to go to the fuse box i assume, will this install affect any other function of my car? and i sure hope the harness works. can post a pic later, seems to be a generic version. no brand name that i can see, i hope i have another place on the fuse box, already have taken two fuse taps with the cd changer i installed after i first bought the car. thanks

Well, it is done!!! it went OK, i had to use a Scosche Dash kit instead if the American Intl one i wanted to, the one i wanted to use put the stereo back too far and did not leave room for the wires to plug in. I installed a Sony HU with USB port, i am removing the 12 disc changer i installed 3 years ago, since my tunes will fit on a flash drive! (take half the car apart AGAIN to remove the CD changer) Anyway it was well worth it, the sound it so much clearer with this radio, i also installed a pair of surface mount tweeters in the rear of the car. That alone even with the factory radio made a BIG difference. I will post a pic soon. My only complaint is i cannot locate a fuse to tap in the fuse box that will work with the ACCY position of the key. My car is a base model and most unused fuse slots do not even have a circuit behind them, just empty plastic holes! So the stereo only works with the car on.

RAP is Reserve Accessory Power (i think thats the wording). It allows power to the windows and radio after the car is shut off but when you open the drivers door is cuts the power off.
