I heard that they are around $1300

I want one too. Damnit we should get a group buy going on with GM to get a bunch of these for lower prices

There is no single part number for the radio. You need to consider...

Base radio
Radio with MP3
Radio with XM
Radio with black face plate
Radio with silver face plate
On-star equipped

I think that's all the posible options that would effect your actual radio purchase.

We are all still curious about compatibility. We are probably just gonna have to wait for someone to try it.

Price I got from the dealer for the radio was $600. That was employee price, and I don't know for which option level. I was just curious.

too expensive. it's probably worth your time to fab something with cheaper parts instead. problem is, GM decided to get all complicated with our radios and head units and chimes and DIC and all that. not enough info out there... it was hard enough to put in an alarm system.

Just to let everyone know, i do believe that radio is available now, and has been. The radio was in the 2006 Saturn Ion, but i'm not sure about the silver finish.

actually you dont really need to even get a silver version of the radio...thats only if you like the color...just get the panel trim of one of the new cpbalts or g5's and your set...especially if its carbon fiber..

the important thing i was going to say was that the steering wheel radio control harness should be the same. The 2006 Saturn Ion with the new radio, has the same steering wheel as the cobalts. If it is different, you just have to get an Ion steering harness.

Just get the 6 disc indash CD changer with MP3 playback. I have 6 CD's with over 100 CD's in MP3 format. Unfortunately I only have the single CD radio.
