2010 SS/TC stock pioneer amp question

Hello

I decided I don't want my stock HU and speakers anymore so I bought 2 new 6.5's, 2 new 6x9's, a pioneer double DIN HU, a pioneer sub amplifier and a pioneer shallow mount 10" sub.

I read that you might have to bypass the stock amp...doesn't sound fun. Is this necessary? Can I just install everything the way I normally would? (hook up aftermarket HU, wire aftermarket amp off of the new HU, wire the new sub off the new amp, replace the door and rear deck speakers using the stock wiring)

That's exactly what you do. Also allows you to rewire all speakers with a thicker gauge wire. Just leave the stock amp where it is. It's way up under the dash on the driver's side and a bitch to get out!

I have to run new wiring to the 6x9s and 6.5's too? I'm just making sure there isn't a stock amp after my aftermarket HU that will blow my new speakers since they are 4ohm and the stock ones I replaced are 2ohm.

You don't have to but I recommend it. I guess it depends on the caliber of your new system. The stock speaker wires are pretty wimpy. Will they work? Sure. But if you're going for awesome sound invest the extra 25 bucks and an hour of your time to do it right.

OK thanks for the help.

Here are the replacement speakers. I just hope they can handle the stock amp since they are 4 ohm.

Amazon.com: Package: Mb Quart Ftb169 6x9" 3 Way Formula Series Full Range Coaxial Car Speakers Totaling 360 Watts + Mb Quart Fkb116 6.5" 2 Way Formula Series Pair of Full Range Coaxial Car Speakers Totaling 300 Watts: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Package: Mb Quart Ftb169 6x9" 3 Way Formula Series Full Range Coaxial Car Speakers Totaling 360 Watts + Mb Quart Fkb116 6.5" 2 Way Formula Series Pair of Full Range Coaxial Car Speakers Totaling 300 Watts: Car Electronics

might have to just wire them all directly off the new HU...

Not to be mean but I question whether your new speakers are any better then the stock ones. $98 for all four speakers doesn't buy you much. I would save the money (and the time) until you can get something a little better and a new amp to power those 4 speakers. Stick with the sub amp and shallow mount for now.

Also, if you want to use the existing speaker wiring and amp, make sure your new head unit has a pre-out and don't hook up the powered (amplified) outs to the amp but it sounds like you've done this before.

I used this thread as a reference, maybe should've researched a little more but oh well they are already on their way. I am not looking for it to be louder, just hopefully more clarity versus stock. I suppose I could return these...any recommendations for direct 6.5 and 6x9 replacement without getting an amp for them? My budget is pretty flexible.

I will be running RCAs directly from the new HU to the new subwoofer amp if thats what your asking.

Just ordered some Infinity reference 2-Ohm 6.5 and 6x9 from Amazon. They should be a little better then the MB Quarts. Going to still run them off the aftermarket HU using the stock wiring and see how that goes. If that sounds shitty I will just get an aftermarket 4 channel amp and run the speakers directly from that.

doing an amp bypass isnt that bad then again i have done hundreds and my first one i was scared as ****. you didnt really have to order new speakers however Infinity's are going to be a step up so id def use em. With that being said with the 2 ohm speakers you shouldn't have to do an amp bypass. Id just make sure to try and get a module harness if you can. I generally wouldn't "recommend" it but to keep everything kosher you will want to. What year balt do you have?

Just got the HU and 6x9s and 6.5s in and it sounds amazing even without the sub. Have the new sub mounted in the stock enclosure and the amp ready to go in tomorrow, should sound pretty good once its all done, nothing crazy but better than stock.

Also, I didn't even have to tap into the fuse panel to remote my HU as I thought. The PAC harness I bought must retain RAP, not sure if its because i have a 2010 or what but I was surprised to see it stay on and turn off after I open my door with simply matching the colored wires.

It had speaker wires. Still have an orange and light green wire with nothing going to it. I think the light green is steering wheel controls. Anyone know where it goes?
