When i ran the wire to the sunroof panel, there was nothing there so i dicided to run it to the wiper blade switch. is there any long term problem for this?

shouldnt be a problem, your system will work whenever your wipers will work

edit: not literally, but physically when you can turn your wipers on and off, the system will be on
the system will play regardless of whether you have your wipers on

Thats part of the RAP Retained Accesory Power. The only way you will get that is by taping into something that has power. I believe the windows fall under the RAP functions. But its not something you can just set a headunit to do.

What are you wiring in anyway? On my other car with sunroof I wired my radar detector into the sunroof switch with no problem and it would stay on like the radio and turn off when door opened. On my Cobalt now with no sunroof I wired my xm into the sunroof fuse in the fuse panel. You need to use a test light on the wires on sunroof switch when the key is turned on
