Adding extra speakers
#28
Oh. Haha. Nah my son sits back there and he would screw up the speakers if they were right beside him.
I've also got another question. I'm looking for subs and I'm having a hard time deciding on a setup.
Would one 12" sub like a kicker comp 12 be enough? I don't want so much bass that the whole car rattles to death but just some added thump. So would a single 12 be good or do I need to go with two? Also what kind of wattage should I look for in an amp?

Ok so I've been reading and thinking and reading some more.
Honestly, I'm not real sure about the sub simply because it would be right behind my 6 year old son. I highly doubt he's going to like that too much.
Now the h/u I have is only pushing 22w per speaker. I'm sure it's an improvement over factory, but it still seems low.
I know I'm probably going to add the extra door speakers and wire them in parallel. I know a lot of people do this to drop the impedance to get more output. I'm not really sure if it will work too well off the headunit itself but it's what I'm going to do.
Also I may look into a low watt 4 channel amp to power them a little better. The only problem is that my h/u only has one set of RCA outs. Most of the 4 channel amps I have seen require two RCA in cables, one for each bank. So if I go that route I'm going to have to get line output converters. The only thing I'm worried about with this is running speaker wires such a long distance. Would they need to be shielded better since they are going to be running such a distance? Cause the amp will be mounted in the trunk. Or would it be safe to mount an amp under one of the front seats?

ok if i were u i would go with a 2 channel for the fronts and leave the rears on the HU. save u money as far as amp goes and meh might as well... if u insist on 4 channel look at one that utilizes high level input and use high level for all 4 channels. i would also install the amp first then go about adding an extra pair of speakers if u see fit
heres an idea of what behind the door panel looks like

Well I popped today and bought a sub, amp, box, and wiring. I still am not too sure if I want an amp an sub setup so I wasn't going to spend a lot of money on one. My brother was getting rid of his setup out of his focus since he's about to get rid of the car. So for $40 I got his whole setup. It's only a cheap DUAL amp and sub but for the price I figured it was a good start to decide if I really wanted that kind of sub and if I decide that I do I won't loose money when upgrading. It was kind of a win win for me.
I'll post up some pics when I get it installed. I'm also going to use this as a wy of deciding if I want to add the two more door speakers.

Ok so here's the pictures. Yes it's cheap Walmart ****. But it actually sounds pretty good minus the rattles that I knew would come with adding any kind of sub and amp.
Forgive the bad quality pics and both seats not being down, I'm using my cell phone and didn't want to move my sons booster seat.
It's only a 400 watt amp but it actually hits pretty hard. Plenty hard enough for me.
