Aftermarket fob on stock alarm?

Hey guys.

I drove this car today at my work today with an aftermarket alarm. Well, I suppose it had one. It just had a "Valet" brand fob that remotely unlocked the doors. No biggie. It was a much smaller fob than our beefy stock one. Could you program any aftermarket or alternate fobs to work with the stock alarm?

Thanks!

haha Thank ya.

I just posted that because I'm a valet, and I often see people with seemingly stock alarms but with aftermarket fobs. I know that when you get a remote starter that you can get an all-in-one fob for your factroy stuff PLUS the starter, but I'm not sure about just replacing the fob straight up..

Short answer, no. The frequencies between the factory RCDLR (Remote control door lock reciever) and the aftermarket key fobs are different.

when it says valet on it its a fob that it just for valets to use all it does is unlock the doors nothing else and it has a valet key on it that only starts the car and unlocks doors wont let you get in the trunk or anything of that sort

No aftermarket one that I've seen yet will program to the factory setup. Aftermarket setup's add an extra reciever and tap into the factory wiring. The only remotes that will program to the factory setup are the factory remotes.

No no no. Valet is a brand. You're referring to valet keys. The valet keys that some manufacturers give you only unlock the door and do the ignition. But not the glovebox or the trunk. Valet is a brand that makes fobs.

But eh, it's not a real big deal anymore. I thought my battery was starting to go in the fob, so I replaced it. It's still working shitty. So instead of using the other one, I just don't use a fob anymore. I just got used to pressing down on my door locks. lol..
