Alpine Screen Install Help
Everyone with an alpine in-dash screen or flip up, what did you do about the parking brake and footbrake issue? Did you use the TR-7 Module or did you make up your own way of getting around it (possibly with a wired switch) so you can watch movies while driving? Haven't installed yet but I want to prepare myself for whats ahead.

I wired 2 toggle switches so I could send either a high or a low on the line.
I kept messing with them until I got a combo that worked.
For example.... 1 high, 2 high, 2 low, 1 low
I was on the options/adjustments screen so when I got it, the extra adjustments popped up.
That was on my last car, I haven't installed it yet on my Cobalt.

I've got an Alpine W200 in mine and it's real easy to do the bypass. All you need are two switches, one for each wire. Take the footbrake wire and put it to one end and put 12 volts to the other end. Then put the e brake wire to one end of the second switch and put the other end to ground. Then just mount those suckers. Mine are hidden away on a little false panel in my glove box. Once you have it wired up you can do the sequence with the switches instead of the brakes.....hope this helps

the switches I used had 3 connections on them.
1. 12 volts
2. the wire to the alpine
3. ground
this lets you send a high (12V) or a low (ground)
I've heard that if you just float it instead of ground it,
that can be bad in some situations. Who knows....
Hope this helps

Had a alpine-CVA-1003 in-dash. It was a beautiful screen. I figured I really didnt need to bypass the parking brake and foot brake (for safety issues). I later decided that I was going to bypass it, but I couldnt, I had to by a PAC- Tr-7 unit. Just make sure you install a switch that can activate/de-activate the tr-7. (incase you get pulled over)

I ended up using one momentary switch and one normal switch. Momentary I hooked up to 12V source then to the footbrake side of the deck, the normal switch i hooked up to ground then to the handbrake side of the deck. Works like a charm and only cost $5 compared to $60 for the TR-7 module. Cheap alternative for Alpine users.
