Alpine Type R ?

Currently I have a 10 inch infinity, REF1052w and an Alpine MRP-M500 amp. I had someone install it for me as I don't know much at all about car audio. Anyways I'd like to pick up a 10 inch type r in the near future and was wondering if I could just plug it right in with the existing speaker cables? I believe both subs have DVC 4 ohms a piece but I have no idea what my speaker is wired at currently. Sorry for all of the recent topics lol, I'm trying to get my car stereo finished as soon as I can.

One Type R if you wire it down to 2 ohms will work on that M500. It will be getting just about its rms 500w. If the install was done correctly you shouldn't need to re-do anything. Just swap the subs out.

Thanks, what would happen if it isn't wired to 2 ohms? Would nothing happen or would it damage the sub?

Well if its not at 2ohms its gonna be at 8ohms and then its not going to get much power so yes it will eventually hurt the sub. Just remember that its a DVC and both coils need to be hooked up.
