Amp Help!!!

Ok I was installing my rockford punch 40 amp last night and I only hooked up power ground and remote and a red LED right came on. Is anyone familiar with rockford amps? What does the red light mean? I bought it from a friend and he told me it works?

ANy suggestions?

Some amps use different colors is it lighting up under the power or protection? My old kicker amp had a red power light

well it shouldn't like up watsoever if you just put them in and the battery is unplugged... most likely it is red (protection) so that it recognizes the power, but has no use for it (no signal) so its not doing anything, but thats just my idea

Nice, does anyone else have any suggestions...

Creed... So if I had my line output converter connected correctly it may work? I was almost certain I had them hooked up correctly.

I'm pretty sure the protection light for the old RF's is orange, red is power on

Good way to test it is to get a 3.5 mm to rca cable (headphones to rca) and hook your amp up to an mp3 player. If it produces sound your problem is in your LOC, if not the amp is bad

depending on what year it is you might want to add a LP X-over to the amp for better sound

Its probably a protection light like everyone said. Have you hooked up the remote wire? Then seen if the amp actually works? It could mean the amp fuse is blown or somethign is wrong with the amp itself.
