Amp help ASAP
Yesterday i was driving to my friends house and my sub just shut off. So when i got there i checked everything and the little fuse on the amp blew. So i got another one and it blew again so does anyone know why that fuse only keeps blowing after like 15 minutes?

Is it the proper size fuse for the amp?
Is it overheating?
What kind of amp is it and what do you have it running?
Off hand I'd say your working the amp to hard, check where your gain settings are at, fuses only blow because more power than what was intended runs through them, better the fuse than your amp

It's a Sony 1000watt 2 channel amp i had it for like 3 months and it just did this yesterday. It's powering a alpine type-r. I got the same size fuse that was in it. it takes one of the little 30 bus fuses

First off if it was a pinched wire then the fuse that is at the battery would blow as well.
This is my best guess, you might water damage on the amp board, or something came loose inside and is shorting out the amp (fuse).
If you bought it new, then take it back, as long as its not water damage it should be warranty. If you bought it used then find an electronic repair shop and have them take a look at it.
Does it have a burnt plastic or burnt rubber kind of smell to it at all?
If it is warranty and you take it back, they will have to ship it back to Sony to be fixed, so if this is the case expect to be without it for a while

No i bought the amp off a guy on here like 3 months ago. Nope when i pop the trunk it just has the trunk smell. When i took the fuse out it was like already out just sitting in the slot. I didn't have to pull it out idk i might take it apart today and look at it

bad amp. or bad speaker. i've never had one of those blow on me.
you have to remember, you can't force electricity into anything, it has to complete a circuit, so logically, it's unlikely that it's the power wire to the amp from the car, that should blow the fuse on the power line, not at the amp.
most modern amps wont let you draw enough power from them to damage them, so it's most likely a bad amp. IMO

the reason i said pinched wire was i had a amp in my truck for a year and the remote power wire routed under the trim over time rubbed the insulation down to the wire and it touched the clip holding the trim and kept blowing the fuse.

My best very un-educated guess would be that you blew a resistor, thus alowing to much power to flow and blowing the fuse, although usually when you blow a resistior thewhole unit does not work. IDK like I said its an un- educated guess. You should have a repair shop look at it, but for the price might be worth it to look into getting another amp, ebay is your friend.

i know huh. Have you seen inside a sony board? God damn. Honestly even opening it up your not going to figure it out. Without proper testing equipment and the knowledge on how to use it your not going anywhere.
Best thing to do is check everything in your install and rule the amp as the problem. May not get you far but who knows
