amp problem question

amp problem question

my protection light is on on my (aftermarket) amp and i do not know why. i checked all of my conections and they all seem fine... and also i know that the amp is fine because i have checked it in another car so does anyone know what my problem mite be? thanx for any help.

Check all of your wiring something may be crossed.

nope ive gone over it a hundred times bc thats what i thought too

you must have wired the amp for too low of an impedance

really the only two ways for that light to come on is...

bad ground
wrong wiring of the sub to the amp

check it out..wut equipment you got?

easiest way to find the problem is to start unplugging connections from the amp until the light stays off...turn it off and unplug the speaker wires one at a time...then move on to the rca connections..etc...and if everything is unplugged and the light is still staying on then there is a problem with the amp itself....

sounds like a grounding problem.....send me a pic and I'll tell you whats wrong or give us more details.


also check the ohms to your subs sometimes if you run too low of ohms and the amp isn't rated for it....it can shut off the amp(prot. light).
