You could pull the rear seat altogether and turn your car into a two seater and have the subs mounted where the opening to the trunk is. Do some nice fiberglass and plexiglass work and go all out show on it.

Well, you know what they say about plans, right? They're meant to be broken! If you have 8 cubic feet of boxes now, and your 2 15s will be 7 cubic feet.....there's your extra foot. Figure out your box so it has a recess running along the top for the amp or something.......

Heat is my main concern
with the window right there, it will just bake in the sun, maybe consider a custom amp rack to sit up there with fans circulating air?
that way it looks normal, and will perform at its peak

Do you ever carry three people in the back seat? If not you could build up a rack in the center and your passengers could even get an arm rest out of it if planned right.

um, how about buying a good amp and putting it in the spare tire location, add a couple fans if needed (but you won't if you buy a good amp) and figure out how to set it up right....
The new RF amps are tiny and put out huge power....

Okay the reason I want to mount this thing on the deck is because the trunk is full!
I have four 12's and 8 cubic feet of boxes, this is NOT a small amp, people.
The boxes take up almost every square inch of the trunk, I can BARELY fit the current 14" x 8" x 2" amp thats already back there, and it overheats like a BITCH and kicks into thermal protection after 15 minutes.
Mounting it anywhere near the trunk is a no-no, I need somewhere to mount it inside the cabin where it will get sufficient cooling.
Does anyone have a better idea?

Sounds like you just need to cool your jets and install the new amp with the new speakers. Also it sounds like you need to stop running your amp at sub 1 ohm levels.
* Ohm stable is a subjective term. Stable for how long?

I do not know why people are saying you cannot run one on the back of your seats, I am doing it with no problem. I run on 1 12" sub and a mono amp, but it pushes out 1050 watts RMS and peaks at 1800 watts. I leave in the desert where my trunk sees temps in the 150 F easy. Amp never goes into protect or shuts down. I do drive with the seat folded down some times, but not all the time. I recently took a 2 hour drive on the 4th of July with a trunk load of fireworks, and a backseat full of camping stuff. The seat was up and I was bangin the whole way. Never shut off once. I have a Power series Fosgate amp that is the ****, and this things are known for being power hungry to. I am not running a Cap at all, but I do have a special battery that is equal to a 100 farid cap that does the trick, so I know the am is pushing out the max at all times.

lol hack i dont know what to do with you... anyway yes you can put it in the rear deck but 10% isnt going to cut it and its going to get stolen. Ive seen those ma audio amps and theres alot of chrome and **** thats not good.
BTW im putting my amps in the rear deck and with their dark grey and slight machined metal look you could see thru my tint (single layer 35% and single layer 5%) so i added another 5% layer of tint... so to make my darker amps invisible it took less then 2.5% of light transmittance AND once the lights are on in the car you can see thru easy as hell.
Oh and i was talking about those ma audio amps and i was told they draw tons of current for what they produce... so personally i wouldnt run said amp no matter what
damn fosgate is good... they test all their amps to be able to withstand the phoenix summer heat without going thermal so even in extremems they should keep going (only had one of my amps thermal once and it had a shirt on it with no ac in the middle of summer. It was for about 20 secs or less and once shirt was removed it didnt thermal again

ok, get 5% tint in the rear only, since that cant be done do this.
make some kind of vented cover to go over it. possibly in carbon fiber so it is attractive. you could take out one of the rear seat backs and make a board there and put it there. that would probably be the best. make this look good since your subs arent the most attractive thing in the world.

Ok, with my new setup, the spare tire well will be completely covered, so If the amp was down there, i wouldn't have any access to it.
I got a DEAL on two Soundstream PCA1000Ds, All necessary wiring, and a 20 farad cap for ~$275. So I might give that a try.
They are quite a bit smaller than the HK802SX, they are each 9.5"x2.5"x12.75" So I might be able to mount them somewhere else.

I'm not sure you can overheat a fosgate. I have had one so hot you couldn't even touch it with out burning yourself, and it never shutoff. We had it at a 1/2 ohm, 2 2ohm 10's in parallel and the amp bridged. (Thats 1/2 ohm because you divide by 2 again when you bridge, thats why they always tell you that bridged is ohm stable to a higher number, their dividing for you.)

I have 6 Fosgate amps in my Cav, 4 of them are mounted "correctly", 2 are flat on the floor with covers over them...I have yet to go into protect mode with the ones laying down. One of my Amps sitting upright along my back wall in the trunk did overheat and have to be sent out...It over heated running 2 12's at 1/2 ohm briged, I do not have the power series though. It only over heated after 1 hour and 15 minutes @ 115 degrees outside, with the Sound cranked. (before I knew how to set up a system and run it) By the way this was a A/B amp pushing out 1800 Watts RMS @ that 1/2 ohm....RF fixed it for shipping...It's back in my car now putting out 1000 watts RMS every day, and very happy. to hot to touch after 3 hours, otherwise no problems since....If I buy a monster amp again, it will either be a RF or a JBL...

I really want to do those Nine 12's but the box i designed doesnt have enough airspace for them. But i still want to do it just for the "wow" factor
