Amp stopped working
What can cause an amp to stop working out of nowhere? Was driving home and switch songs and amp just stopped working for my sub. I checked the fuse in the amp and the power cable and neither is blown. I rechecked all wire connections and nothing was knocked loose. I thought maybe it got to hot or overworked, but the protect indicator light doesn't come on nor does the power light. Any ideas?

nothing smells burnt. But it was very hot..but its cooled for about an hour and still nothing. I dont have a capacitor (only 600w, 300RMS) so its not extreme. It has an inline fuse but it wasn't burnt out either, and if neither fuse was burnt...can the amp still really burn (still no burn smell).

if you amp is hot you need a new one it is to small or a bad brand i bought a 1000w sony amp had it on for about 30 min after putting it in and it over heated and shut off i went out and bought a 750w kicker and i can blast it full power as long as i want and it doesn't even get hot

Get a multi meter, test the end of the pwer wire to make sure there is power.
The burnt smell is usually from a cap or a resistor, they tend to be acompanied by a litlle smoke show.
If you fucked the power supply who knows.
There a re a million different things that could go wrong inside of an amp, heres a pic for visual reference
Emp- I figured you might like this one
If any one of those tiny little parts go then the whole amp goes

did you check all of the wiring to make sure nothing came loose? last year my amp did that but it was just because my remote turn on came loose.
edit: never mind i just saw you said you checked everything and nothing came loose

lol is that a sundown? looks familiar as hell. Ya the power supply or output stage would take the mosfets with it and smoke.
