Amplifier Question
Alright guys I'm a noob when it comes to car audio but let me give you what I have.
My car is an 06 LS w/o pioneer or on star, but down the road over my 5 years of ownership I upgraded the basic oem hu to the oem ss pioneer mp3 hu. I also upgraded the speakers as well.
I am not running a subwoofer or anything fancy. The only component that I have is an audiovox FM modulator for my phone so I can play music or pandora. It sounds very low when comparing to a cd or radio, so I am wondering what if I were to purchase a 4 channel amplifier to help out the cause?
I am looking into getting this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alpine+-...=1218112724899
People have said you can cut out the connectors that make it "alpine only" to connect to any stereo.
Note, I have also read the how to here:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...eadunit-85131/
So my question is do I need to purchase LOC for this particular amplifier also how bad would the difficulty be?
Thanks guys

well...fm mods are just cheesy to begin with, you should look into something that would allow you to plug your phone in direct to the headunit...does your phone have a 3.5 mm jack aux out?

Agreed. Even though modulators kick the crap out of transmitters, they're still quiet in comparison to a "hard" source (i.e. CD, Auxiliary/USB input). I wired up a modulator to my stock HU until I got my Alpine, and had the same symptoms. You just kinda have to deal with that for the mod.

Nope, I have an 06 MP3 silver faced SS deck.
I think I solved my problem, I'm using a new music player on my HTC Espresso. Its called PowerAMP and whats different is that is includes an equalizer. I played with the settings and it seems a hell of alot better than before.
