amplifier question (signal cable)

im adding an amp and sub to my pioneer system and im tapping off the rear speakers for the signal, but my question is how do i hook up the amp signal cord from the receiver? or does this not need to be done?

to clarify a little bit, im wondering if i need to hook up the cord that turns the amp on when the stereo is turned on or will it just turn on when the car does?

The wire sends a signal to the AMP telling it when to turn on and off, otherwise youl drain your battery in no time. Theres a LONG thread about this with me actully. Search for Sub Install and look for my user name. Basically you have to tap your fuse panel (Unless you have an after market head unit, and no the Pioneer or MP3 deck do not count)

cant i just see if the amp is going to detect input voltage and turn on by itself?

Some amps do from the speaker input, but some dont, if you wanna try it go for it, but you mine as well just get it done now so that way when you get a new headunit you don't have to worry about it

i cant find your thread, is there anyway you could get link to it? also, my amp wiring instructions say i can go off the antenna power cord? this would be really convienient since the antenna is right there.

tap off of your sub wires if your amp has high level in puts go directly to amp no swich wire if your amp only has rca inputs low level in than you will need a line out converter the best one you can get mine is ok up to 85 watts they are about 40 dollers and also get a low level trigger four wires 1 for constant power battery is already in trunk 2 wire goes to the speaker wire were you wire in your line out convert 3 wire is ground 4 wire is switch wire to amp or what ever needs a switch
