No, if you have the "fin", it is detachable from the base.

I hate me lil XM antenna, which I have never used. I'd slice somebody if I had that big ass Onstar fin. I haven't tried to remove it tho.

It's on the roof at the back, near the top of the rear glass.

esh.. if u do decide to give it a shot i would look around for wires. if it looks like theres none then that means theres a hole drilled like the shark fins. Id also be worried about messing up the paint BUT in comparison a hole is much worse then minor paint damage

Yeah it probably wouldn't be worth the risk. If I had a fin on the other hand... that bitch is coming right off.

The roof antennas leave holes. On mine there are actually two separate holes under the antenna, one large and one small. The wire(s) coming from the antenna has a connector pretty close to it, so it's easy to disconnect and remove, but you still have the holes to worry about.I had to drop my headliner a bit to give me enough room to move in the area to disconnect and unmount the XM antenna, but it's really simple to do.

no it snaps onto the base, they are put on when the car is PDI'd. no glue at all
