im wondering if anyone knows of a cobalt thats hitting 150 db or more using 2 10inch kicker l7s in a custom box cause my local stereo shop says they can build me a system that will hit that loud using those sub and a 2000watt pioneer spl amp im just not sure if i should go with these 2 kicker l7s or go with JL for the money that this will end up costing me in the end

Well for reference, it took me four 12" subs just to hit 141 with 1000w RMS

and 150 dB is almost 10 times that

yeah i know thats why i dont think its possible but this shop is garentee it and said if it doesnt hit those numbers they will replace it with JL but still i dont wanna fork out as much money as this is going to cost me but i do want a loud stereo

Ask them what they are using to meter it.

TermLab is the universally accepted way to properly measure a sound system's performance. (At the windshield)

But i'm telling you, nothing short of 4 15" L7s in nasty ported boxes is going to hit 150

i hit a 147.6 on the term lab outlaw using an MT 15 and a fosgate 3000w rms amp

2 kicker L7 10s will shred on an actual 2k and 2k peak is a useless number because peak means nothing.

2 l7s aint doin it. no way. 2 JLs aint doin it. no way. i can do a 151 on an audiocontrol so thats even 145 on a termlab and its still recockulous. i can ***** some jls and l7s though. i just don't see it happening.

that max those two subs will go will be around 135-147DB's can't do to much more and that is ported/tuned

honestly its uncomfortable. i really only crank it up at shows or to shake the cars around me in traffic. but i cannot drive around like that its insane. im glad my cougar doesn't rattle at all besides the EVAP equipment under my spare tire well but its far better than most cars.

honestly I had a nice 130DB sound system and I never used it, my friends would all the time because its not there car but when its your car you dont want people to because it makes you feel like a ricer and a *******, at shows its fair game but other then that its really only good when your passengers **** you off and you don't want to listen to them

go with 2 12inch alpine Type Rs and a alpine PDX 1.1000 amp and call it a day.. I love how my stereo sounds... car is dynamated from front to rear and the rear window will flex with the right bass and no rattling

i hit 152 with a single dvc 12 in a vented box and 1k rms arc audio amp

the box is the key to it all.
