I tapped mine into the reverse light wire in the trunk.

It comes on automatically when I shift into reverse. I also have the bypass set-up so I can watch it while in motion, split screen with about 1/3rd of the screen being a navi map.

I bought the Audiovox back up cam that comes mounted in a license plate frame,,, very clean install, no drilling required

thanks man, i did the hardwire bypass so can use all the functions, I figured i had to run the wire all the way to the trunk. I got the Boyo VTL400 for free with the AVIC F700

you wont get all of those built in a single unit, you will need to buy at least a xm tuner for whatever radio, along with a separate steering wheel interface.

what yr car is it btw

i have an 08 tc. i figured id have to buy the xm and steering wheel cables (or interface) im not real sure, kinda new to this. i think the xm thing is like an extra $100 for the premier. i was hoping i could get the bluetooth to work through the car speakers and factory onstar microphone? and i just want it to be back up camera capable. i was gonna add that later.

not really bluetooth is a feature you want to fine thats "built in" otherwise youll need another module for that like the xm. Price wise you want the built in one and it works better anyway. It would go thru the speakers but utilize a seperate mic. Most double dins will have the back up cam setup somehow

im doing that at the moment, i had an extra 2GB sd card lying around, im gunna put about 500MB of music on it and use the rest for a movie or something. I know on an MP3 CD (700MB) i can fit between 115-130 songs depending on the length of songs i choose

the sound is okay for now, i have to adjust the Potentioner? spelling. Its on the GMOS harness. I left it at factory setting but i want to turn the dial just alittle bit. volume level is 62 max and im listening to it now at about 50 driving around town. highway is 55 so it does need to be adjusted. Onstar is still nice and clear, CDs are nice and clear, Directions are prompt and loud enough. I love it and definetly dont need the f900 dvd player feature. Ill buy a 32GB SD card and just put videos on that

black08sstc, so you bought the onstar harness? im trying to figure out the bluetooth and onstar thing. i wouldnt need the onstar harness if i'm not keeping my onstar after the trial expires or would i need it for sum reason? also, did u try the bluetooth yet? i wanna know how that all works, does the sound come through the car speakers? and do u have to use the mic that comes with it or can u use the onstar mic that came built in?

The sound comes through the speakers and you have to use the mic that comes with the kit you can't use the onstar mic unless you rewire it. i saw someone do it but it would be easier just to use the mic with the kit

You definetly need the harness, i know it sucks!!! The reason being is the warning chimes play through you speakers and in case of emergencies and stuff onstar is always active i believe. I used the bluetooth, it works pretty well. Im posting a video at the moment that gives people a better idea of the unit

anybody else know about the always active onstar thing for emergencies? i really dont care if i hear the door chimes anymore if it saves me alot of money. how much was that onstar harness anyway. i havent really seen it anywhere. anyone put one of these in and not use the onstar harness?

^that harness from what it says does the onstar as well as wire it to fit the factory connector so that doesnt seem too bad.

The harness that is needed for our cars is the GMOS LAN 4 harness. It retains factory door chimes, onstar, steering wheel controls (with adapter) and the pioneer system with tweeters and amp for sub. I wouldnt go with anything else. hold on ill get the crutchfield site

Navi-http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AVICF70/Pioneer-AVIC-F700BT.html?search=f700&tp=144

Needed harness-http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120OSLAN04/Metra-GM-OnStar-Interface.html?search=GMOS+lan+4&tp=3486.
Harness is halfprice if you purchase the headunit. add the items to your cart to give you an idea of price

also here is the video i made

Ya that is what i did, i just took every to best buy and had them install it. But they were telling me that i needed the expensive harness to keep everything and it turns out my steering wheel controls don't work and the onstar doesn't work, but i didn't really care about the onstar

To be honest with you unless you're color blind it's pretty simple. The red wire goes to the red wire and so on ad so forth. 99% of the time it even has RR- and RR+ written on the harnesses.
