Anyone upgraded alts(I know you have Emp)?
Will this one work as a direct replacement? I am looking at the 140A remanufactured one. I want more charging capability and right now I don't have the money for a dual alt setup or a MechMan which will throw a cel(I live in an emissions state). My alt went out and I needs meh car!
Edit, incase the link doesn't work here is the p/n: USA3109

Honestly it kinda depends on the drain... I don't know if this is correct or not but this is how I look at mine:
~105 amp alt so thats good enough for stock electrical
CB radio 45 watts so divide by volts and round 4 amps
Fosgate PBR300.1 26-40 amps
add it all up: 105+4+40=149 so my optimum setup would have a 149 amp alt but wait... Idle speed puts out less current than when driving so I personally would find one with a 140-150 idle rating which would allow me to run a bit more if I wanted to... As long as you don't demo at idle for hours on end you could just use my theory and it will work out fine.

true but you also have to realize that your not going to be using all the electronics at once all the time and your total draw doesnt have to = your alt output. I would say shooting for that would be the best in the good better best type deal but that's defiantly not going to be the minimum

Yeah but if we are talking about alt upgrades might as well run it as a "best case scenerio" and allow some slight variation from that...
