base speakers/aftermarket hu

i was wondering if my base cobalt speakers will be able to handle the output of my aftermarket deck or will it eventually just blow them out? any input would be appreciated. thanks

Also does anyone know if you take out the factory headunit and then go to put it back in will it still work or will you need to bring it to the dealer to get reprogramed?

are they the pioneer speakers

If it's the pioneer speakers that you have from the 7 speaker up-grade system, then you should be OK. I put in a Kenwood DVD unit that puts out 50X4 and kept all the original speakers and it sounds great. What kind of Head Unit did you get?

Yes, you can put it back in. What and why are you talking about needing to be reprogrammed?

Oh I see. So right now you have 6/9's in the back and 6.5" in the front doors. Most likely they are the standard GM AC Delco speakers. Try it and see what happens. But down the road you may want to upgrade the speakers and put in a sub and amp to get the full effect and use of the head unit. You don't have to spend a hole lot of $$$ either to get a decent set of 6.5' and 6/9's. Also a 12 inch sub would do you fine as well. And even a 2 channel 150 Watt Amp would be OK.
