i was wonder if there was an easy way to get more bass out of the stock sub?
is the stock box ported at all? never really looked at it
i was thinking about making a bigger, ported box for it

x2... id want some more specifics before id agree that bigger wire would do more then empty your wallet. Anything like a new aftermarket cd player, ls cd player, different amp would make a bit more sense on why its louder. Like joe said i guess it could be possible but unlikely

i don't buy into that whole "spend $2343344543454345 a foot on some super duper speaker wire" crap. i mean, i order good 16/2 wire for my van, and it's fine for 99% of applications. if someone has REAL power being drawn from his speakers, i'll use a heavier 12/2.

well, i'm a home theatre installer, and i've seen in some setups where going from a shitty wire to a better one sound better... however, that said, generally, i feel that it's more that the original wire was 20 gauge junk, not that the new wire was so great.

true but on the setups that youve seen get louder what wires were changed and more importantly how long were they? i agree with you 100% on the speaker wire. the key word to what you said is power draw. were talking about the absolute maximum 50w rms on the stock sub with say 12ft from the amp to sub. also what wire was used. dirty secret in the car audio industry is copper clad aluminum. Even an upgrade to 18 or 16g may not be an upgrade at all if it was CCA
new amp is the way to go if you are going to do anything at all... stock amp is under the dash by the steering column

i haven't played with one personally but should be pretty nice as well. Supposedly pioneer had alot of issues with them at the beginning of the year but they supposedly fixed those issues. the main differences is the kenwood is 5.1 surround sound and the pioneer has the navigation/music internal HDD

Did it all myself, i just swaped out the pioneer sub with a dual 2 ohm kicker, i had to fiberglass a bowl to fit the magnet in the stock box and i also had to cut the 10" hole bigger. Then i have the 10" l5 that matches the crv, powered by the 300 Watt mono kicker amp. It sounds nice, verry deep clean sound.
im also using the stock amp on the crv.
