battery keeps falling over in trunk

battery keeps falling over in trunk

alright so i have 2 yellow tops in my trunk (above carpet)

there is one on each side and there sitting in the spot where the stock sub is on teh SS's

the driver side one stays up just fine, but the passanger side one ALWAYS falls over now, pretty much everytime i drive i can hear that bitch tip over, i have a ton of velcro on the bottom of both the batteries, but it still tips over, ive tried putting stuff under the battery so it leans the oppisite side so it wont fall, but guess what...it still falls over


anyone have any ideas on what i can do? i have no idea since my drivers side battery is fine but pass. one is fucked...

heres a pic of the battery that falls over....the amp inst in the trunk right now, but when i put it back in i dont want my battery falling all over it.

make a bracket and bolt it to the side of the car or the floor of the trunk either or...that should fix your problem

If you really want to stay with the velcro thing: it's taller than it is deep = top heavy, so just slap some velcro on the side and lay it down. It'll try to slide vs. tip over. Optima's are dry-cell batteries so you can mount them in any position you want.

my wiring is set up for that position, and im willing to bet id have to **** around with it a bunch to get it perfect again. also, it would look real werid IMO to have batteries laying on the side. and to the other posts, i would bolt it down but the only thing under it is the carpet, the the chassis metal and id rather not drill in to my car anymore.

why not also Velcro the side to the "wall" of the trunk liner.

If you rewired it so that the wires came from the side, you could use the wires themselves to hold the battery upright.

....then you answered your own question. Like stated before why not reroute the cable and turn them on their side since they are a dry battery. Then the velcro could work, I think. The other thing is in a crash those batteries are going to go flying if velcro'd down. For safety concerns Id do a bolt/strap setup.

2x4 some nails and duct tape will make sure your batteries never move even in a rollover.

does anyone know whats under where my battery is sitting, last time i drilled a hole i hit my fuel line and had to pay 300+ for tow/repairs

there isnt much of anything. look under the car like i said the first time ... bu i also sprayed great foam in the back because it dips down... another one of the 4 or so reasons its falling over

looked under the car and couldnt really tell if there was anything under my batt...really want to drill it now since it falls over basically everytime I drive

If you're concerned about looks then fabricate a bracket and have it chromed.

If you want the easiest solution, side mount it for better stability.

Your only options are to either bolt it or make it more stable. Otherwise, get comfortable with it sliding around, but it's a matter of time until it shorts somewhere.

What happens if you get in a wreck and that battery becomes a cannonball? You think that back seat has any chance of stopping that battery from flying into the passenger compartment?

I'd hope his sub box is large enough to block projectiles. I'd be more concerned of shorts and battery damage by a rolling battery.

are you ******* retarded? why would i need someone to hook up a ******* battery, its positive and negative...i have ghetto ass velcro on the other side and guess what, NEVER has it slid around, same with my sub box....

anyways, i found this little metal piece that i can partially slide under the battery and it has this thing that sticks up and keeps it from falling over, and you cant even see it

id be more concerned with my 500 dollar sub being used to block like a 50-60 lb battery
