Pioneer makes some nice ones.
Are you looking for Single or Double-Din?
I've messed with a lot of different brands and by far I like Pioneer the best as far as aesthetics, functionality, and sound go.
I just picked up a Pioneer DEH3100UB for about 130 at Wal-Mart. Very good head unit...but if you're looking at dropping 400 bones I would say...
DEH-P800PRS - ~$500
It is similar to the original Cobalt radio but Single-Din.
A feature I wish most other radios by Pioneer had (Separate Volume and Station/Function Dials)
FH-P8000BT - ~$300
Double-Din, nice design, very unique, has a similar Premier Unit for more $ but is equally comparable and generally easier to come by.
DEH-P7100BT - ~$300
Single-Dun, has an OEL Display so it can display purdy distracting graphics whilst driving. Has BT with Voice Control.
Models DEH-6100 to 3100 more or less offer the same thing with design and things like BT differentiating them the most. Cost is from ~$250-100

I didn't see that it said DD at the top.
As for Pioneer, no this is their only Double-Din currently being produced...though I'm sure they have other models.

All I could find...lol @ Cassette.
I forgot to mention the Avic series radios.
I'm not sure if you'd even want a full screen...personally that's just screaming "Steal me!" in my book...or "Break me!" whichever comes first.
I practically punch my radio when changing the station because I'm a ******* clutz.

www.pioneerusa.com if you already haven't
Check out their Car Audio section and their IN-DASH Navigation systems.
They rock pretty hard, too bad you're looking at this time...I was selling one 2 months ago for about 400.

Here is Clarion's 2-Din. I have the MAX675VD. This is the VX709 (Latest one).
I know its not within the price range you specified. But, If you can find a set used, it can probably go for $600 US.

They don't make the D3 anymore but if you can find one they're the best bang for your buck IMO. We've got two of them, one in my G5 and another in our lincoln. Granted... pioneers customer service blows but they have the most options for the best price.
I paid 700cdn as a demo for mine. It has DVD, Navi, Ipod, you can hook up Sirius, XM, bluetooth.
Pros: It's an awesome deck with TONS of features, Navi is pretty reliable sept mine didn't like NYC.
For the price it's the only one with DVD in it as well as everything else.
IMO best looking one and the screen is nice as well as customizable to a degree
Cons: satalite radio, bluetooth you need a seperate box for and the navi is by disk, but if you have an ipod that's not an issue really as you wont be using the CD player.

yeea its pretty acurate. The disk isn't bad and for the price and everything else you get with it it's well worth it. As long as your not a strictly cd listener or what not then it's not a big deal.

i love how people are still talking about the avic d3 like it's the ****. i got the JVC Arsenal KW-NT1 thrown in with my new CSRT. you can get them for $900, double din, detachable face, ipod hookup already, navigation, built in bluetooth, usb, SD card, plus you can have the navi lady speak start up and shut down phrases that you type in.
sexy as hell
