Best location for amp
What would be the best location for an 500W amp?
Can I remove the spare and install it there or will it heat up too much?
Thanks

ya i wouldnt recommend puting it in the spare tire areay, there isnt much airflow and if it is a nice amp then you wouldnt want to throw it there anyways, but if you dont really care much about it then, it wouldnt be the BEST spot, but it wont blow it

I had mine there but the one thing i didn't like about it was the fact that i had to leave slack in the wire so the seat would go down...I
i like how Rayth hung his from the roof of the trunk... if i was to put a system back in my car thats where i'd put mine

The back of the seat is a great location for average sized amps. This is where my 4ch is mounted, on the 60/40 split, it is mounted on the back of the 40 side. Its mounted with spacers under the amp to give it breathing room, but the seat can be closed without a problem. Also since we loomed the wires and secured them to the seat, it looks slick and it doesn't look like there's slack in the wires.
Also, for anyone who has their subs in a box facing the back of the trunk, putting that one section of seat down basically turns your trunk into another box with that part of the seat down as a port. The air movement goes over the amp keeping it cool and it amplifies the sound, so it has a double bonus to it. But again, if you need your seats up, it still fits fine.

Best location for an amp is in a well ventilated area with the heat sinks facing up so the heat convects upwards away from the amp. Placing it on it's side is alright but not the optimal place. Never place it under the rear deck upside down. That's just asking for overheating issues.
