blowing a main power fuse to the amp

hey guys, i was listening to shoulda lean and the first 10 seconds of bass were amazing, then i blew the fuse on the power wire, i dont remember what size it was, but is there any way to prevent that from happening, oh and the fuse on my amp is an 80 so i was going to throw a 70 in the power wire fuse holder, it is a glass fuse

you should match the fuse to the amp fuse or to the max amperage of the wire. what guage is it?

well, the fuse on the power wire im not sure of, but the amp fuse is 80, and it was fine, i used 4 gauge i believe, the copper wire itself is approx 1/4 of an inch, i got it from a local audio store, so i will be fine using an 80 amp fuse since that is what is in my amp

you're not fusing for the amp, you're fusing for the wire. thats why the amp has its own fuse. could you have the place that sold you the wire look over the install?

Like creedin said your are over powering it. Either turn down your amps or start upgradeing your electrical system. Start with a small 5 farad cap on that amp. See if that helps.

Not a bad price on the holder and the fuse but I've learned to not trust cheap brands because the holder may melt.

just screw it in. dont blow your subs by incorrectly "tuning" the amp

oh ya a cap probably isnt going to fix any fuse blowing issues you have. If anything make them worse

i always do listen to him, thats why i ask on here before i buy, but the cap wasnt for the fuse, i was goingto do that forthe light dimming and help out the alternator, but you guys think that price is good for a fuse and holder, its the better version of audiopipes, and it is easier to intall the fuse and is water proof incase i take my car swimming, or make a pool out of my trunk lol

I personally use wafer fuses. I don't like the glass ones...

This is similar to what I use...

here's the fuse and the link to the one I would use since the wire is rated at 125a max...

yes the ANL like Tazmanian_Dvl posted is good. Either way they're all about the same. I personally dont like the maxi because they are old school ghetto but a fuse is a fuse.
