Bluetooth enable your onstar
I've been looking for an aftermarket product to use the onstar on my 2006 Cobalt SS with my bluetooth enabled cellphone. I surfed into a website costatech.com that sells devices to do this. Has anyone purchased one?

Looks ok but you loose your onstar if you go this way as it replaces the onstar module.
If you don't want onstar it would do the trick, use the cars built in mic and sound system to interface to your phone - very clean from the looks of it.

you have a 2008? This will replace onstar with bluetooth so you can talk on your phone hands free via a bluetooth enabled phone.

I did read it, but didn't understand it. I am extremely new to all of this. I have had the same 2000 S-10 til about a week ago.
Now I got a 09 Chevy Cobalt and looking at all the cool stuff I can do.
Thanks for the clarification
Once my free time runs out on onstar I will def switch to that product that is linked. 18 bucks a month for that service is a rip off.

Um most 09's have bluetooth, but it may of been a option...not sure. Um if you read the user manual it explains how to enable it for your phone.
If you hold the "mute" button on the steering wheel for 5 seconds it should start an automated lady and I think you say phone or bluetooth. the manual has the directions.

I do not have the telephone receiver / face with screaming button on my steering wheel that it describes in the manual as to what to hit and hold for 2 seconds to pair the devices.
So I think I would have to go with this bluestar kind of system for that.

Does anyone know if there was a write-up done for this? Upon searching, this thread has the most information I could find. I realize this i an old thread, but I just recently got an 08' cobalt and will be purchasing the Bluestar product. If there is no "How-To" write up I will do one with pics.

I got a 2009 bluetooth enabled onstar module for my 2008. It was plug and play and both work as they are supposed to. I bought it from a member here. I did have to go to the dealer and have it unlocked from security which they did for me for free. I don't have the right labels on my steering wheel buttons but they do work just fine.

It uses the codec/profile for the hands free device to do it, so it is pretty bare-bones as far as quality. It'll get you by, but you're better off just plugging in.

Only annoying thing Is that every time I take a phone call or text via Siri it switches from iPod (gm pal) to satelite radio preview. Super anoying.
