Bluetooth Retrofit
Does anyone know if there will be a bluetooth retrofit that will allow us 2008 SS/TC guys to get the bluetooth integration that the 2009 guys will have?
If anyone knows, please share....if anyone has people they can make a phone call to to find out, that would also be appreciated....
UPDATE
Sounds like it is not going to be possible. My Dad did a presentation on bluetooth integration at a GM Fleet Preview show he attended and he asked this question before giving his presentation. I guess it is a whole new OnStar hardware and software bundle...along with new entertainment processors and modules...
I'd have to say I'm a bit disappointed upon hearing this news....

Eh... I didn't remember to order the bluetooth.... sorry for being newb.. but was it an option for the 09? Or is it standard? Not to worried about it, just curious if I will have it or not. If not, no biggie.

Bluetooth is standard on SS in '09. I think it's standard on some of the lower (read: lesser) models too. But for sure on the SS.

Um MapofTazi... I don't have my car yet obviously, but channeling my "geek" powers, I can maybe try to help you out with some generic bluetooth info
I assume your trying to get a bluetooth ready cellular phone to connect to the cobalt?
First off... not EVERY bluetooth device ALWAYS connects/finds other bluetooth enable devices.
Simply put... there WILL be bluetooth phones out there that WILL NOT be able to connect to the cobalt....give it a few months and I am sure some websites will have a list of cell phone manufacturers/models that will connect to the cobalt.
Next.. assuming your cell phone will. Make sure your cell phone has its bluetooth turn on and more importantly, ready to search for other devices (every phone has some type of option/checkbox to allow it to search for other bluetooth devices(
You should just perform a search, and the cobalt should show up on your phone. Select it, then connect.
(easier said than done I bet!)
Hope this helps, pretty generic/common sense stuff, so please don't flame!

Yea.. my parents 2004 BMW was an early adopter of bluetooth connectivity via automobiles.....and I remember having to get the code out of the owners manual for the bluetooth. I know that a lot of Palm Treo devices had trouble connecting to the BMW Z4.. but like I said.. that was 5 years ago.... Bluetooth tech was still cutting edge back then ( for autos).
Chances are, like I said in my post above.. not EVERY cell phone will connect to the 2009 cobalts... way Tech is. but I would not bet my left nut on what I just said by any means. Time will tell, my baby is being built as we speak!

there is different versions of blue tooth more than likely the cobalt has the latest which is backward compatible to older models of it i wouldn't worry about it i would say everything should work
