Bolt in the trunk blocking box space
Been around for quite a while on here and finally blew my two Type-E 10's that were in my Cobalt. I had way too much amp and way too small of a box so it was bound to happen sooner than later. Just picked up 2 Alpine Type-R 12's, and was specing the box when I noticed a little bolt hanging from the metal brace that goes across the inside of the trunk. Looks to hang down almost a full inch, and is really blocking my way to put in a good box. Does anyone know what this bolt is for, and has anyone ever ground it down at all? Thanks.

I would guess that it is one of bolts for the baby seat anchors that are in our cars. But I am just guessing without actually looking at it.

The big ones actual not for the baby seats I beleive its the tie down for the middle seatbelt. You can try and shorten it but you'll need a grinder. I think the reason its so big it due to safety standards though, by law I think it has to be a certain size/grade, so if you grind it down you might run into problems.

I don't know how it works in the US, but in the Great Frozen North, its part of a vehicle inspection, not that there's any reason why a new car needs an inspection.
Grind it down, as long as it holds then there shouldn't be a problem. Might want to replace it before you sell it.
How often do you have 5 people in the car anyway?
Just take it out, seatbelts and all, turn it into a 4 seater, problem solved.

lol i don't even have backseats right now anyway... but inspection wise its different per state and I'm not 100% sure if thats even going to be looked at (in NM theres no such inspection or anything similar). Personally thou i dont see an issue with cutting the bolt as long as you dont cut it too short.
